A Personal Tax Account is an online service provided by HMRC that allows individuals to manage their tax obligations online.
The service gives users access to their personal tax information, including details about their income, tax credits and National Insurance contributions.
It allows users to view and update the personal details that HMRC holds, track the progress of any tax refunds to completion, check any entitlements to things like State Pension, and most importantly, pay tax bills online. A different online service is required to submit a Self Assessment.
Users can sign in using their Government Gateway account. Government Gateway has now been replaced with HMRC Online Services but the Government Gateway credentials still work.
